Choosing the Right Look

When you buy most preset packs you are presented with a dizzying array of different styles and looks to choose from and it's a great way to experiment. But when you are trying to develop a more consistent look my advice is to stick with one preset for colour and one for black and white and really get to know them.

In this article we will be looking at presets that emulate Kodak Portra 400 and high speed Black and White film.

Every image was adjusted for exposure in Lightroom then I simply applied the preset with no additional adjustments.

Although for my own work I to add additional adjustments my focus was to help you evaluate the colour pallet that these presets give you.

So there you have it. 4 different takes on portra 400 and black and white film.

For my work I use the Mastin labs preset as a base but what about you?

What do you like?
